What are the benefits of Massage Therapy?
Massage therapy is a great way to obtain and maintain health. The many positive effects of massage include increased metabolism, lowered blood pressure, relief from muscle aches and tension, improved circulation of blood and lymph, better posture and decreased stress. Massage can relieve a headache or aid in digestion. Facial massage can improve tone and soften fine lines. Recent studies prove that receiving a massage on a regular basis can be effective for long-term pain management. Massage can also give you a good night's sleep, and is a great way to take some time for yourself during a busy week.
Would you recommend massage for everyone?
Unfortunately, no. There are some conditions that are contraindicated for massage, and some conditions that may require a doctor's clearance before you schedule a session. Bodywork is not appropriate care for infectious or contagious illness, as it can exacerbate symptoms as well as risk the health of the public. If you are currently under a doctor's care, or have any doubts as to your "massage eligibility", please feel free to contact me.
Do you accept credit card payments?
Yes. Cash, Check, or Charge. Obtaining a simple prescription from a MD, DC, or DDS saves you from paying tax. The script is kept in your chart and is good for one full year unless otherwise specified.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance, but am glad to provide a receipt and session notes for you to submit for reimbursement.
Do you provide massage for minors?
I will massage clients that are under 18, with a signed Parent/Guardian consent form (presented at the beginning of the appointment). Massage sessions for minors tend to last 30-60 minutes, depending on the minor's size, age, and attention span. Session prices are adjusted accordingly.
Do you take walk-ins? Or same-day appointments?
Massage sessions are by appointment only. Please book your session at least a few days in advance to secure your preferred appointment time and date. If you do find yourself in need of some last-minute work, please feel free to text me and I will do my best to accommodate you.
What should I do during my massage session?
Relax! If I need you to adjust your position, I will either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session while others prefer to talk. It is your massage, and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions or voice concerns at any time.
Do I need to get completely undressed?
For a table massage, it is traditional to undress completely, though you need only undress to your comfort level. I do recommend removing items that can get in the way of the massage (i.e., bras, necklaces, watches, dangly earrings). For those of you new to massage, please note that you will be given privacy to undress and I always use conservative draping methods to avoid inappropriate exposure. Certain modalities such as Thai massage & CST require only that you wear loose fitting clothing.
Do you provide any other services (wink, wink)?
NO. I am a professionally trained Massage Therapist who meets all state and local requirements. To protect both my client and myself, no inappropriate behavior will be tolerated. If you are interested in a sexual (and, it should be noted, ILLEGAL) "massage", you are on the wrong website.
